Wow! What an interesting, fun, and empowering exercise! Even though I have minimal to no artistic skill, I was really happy with how my self portrait turned out. The best part was the insight I gained into how I view and think about myself. Even though I see myself in the mirror each day and am aware of what I like/dislike most about my face, this exercise was really illuminating nonetheless by really considering each area - which I had never really done in this way before - and the details I chose to focus on . Kathy is a great guide through the entire process. She did her own self-portrait along with us and shared her personal insights as well as experience with art. I chose to use a pencil to sketch and outline then went over my features with water color, but any medium would work! I'd definitely repeat this session as I think it would be helpful after the perspective I gained from this one. I can't recommend Kathy's guidance and class enough!
I had an amazing session with Kathy! I am not an artist (see the listing description) and this session is more of a journey of self-reflection rather than learn to draw self-portraits. I found the places I subconsciously judge myself and this session gave me a great deal to think about hours afterward. Very rewarding and special!
